Panaji:
The Goa police have intensified patrolling along the coast following a terror alert by Central agencies about possible intrusion of terrorists through the western coast.
"Though there is no specific alert, all precautions are being taken to avert possible attacks," State chief secretary Sanjay Srivastava told reporters here.
Police are in touch with Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard who are keeping a vigil on the coast, he said.
Goa Police spokesman Atmaram Deshpande said although the terror-alert is not Goa specific, all the measures are in place.
"It is a general alert for West coast and since Goa is on the coast, the security has been heightened," he said.
Deshpande said patrolling by marine police and other forces have been intensified.
"If there is possibility of intrusion then it can be from anywhere," he said.
Goa already has four para military forces stationed in the state due to heavy presence of tourists.
The state government has also requisitioned more forces which will be in Goa till the tourism season eases.
Mumbai police had yesterday claimed that four members of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) have sneaked into Mumbai recently to carry out "violent" attacks with the aim of causing "destruction".
