Goa rape accused to surrender
Goa politician John Fernandes, accused in the alleged rape of a Russian woman, is set to surrender to the Goa Crime Branch on Wednesday, a day after he got anticipatory bail from a local court.

Far from being arrested, Fernandes has so far not even been interrogated by the Goa police, who had claimed he was untraceable.

Earlier, Fernandes spoke to NDTV and said he was being framed. (Watch: NDTV tracks down Goa rape accused)

Meanwhile, the victim has written to the Russian consulate saying she fears for her life. The Russian alleges assault by supporters of the accused. She says she now wants to withdraw her case as the police are favoring the accused.

The victim said she immediately rushed to Panaji, 30 kms away from the scene, to complain to the police about the attempt to assault her.

The high-profile south Goa politician John Fernandes was let off on bail on Tuesday.
