New Delhi:
The Supreme Court will examine the Special Investigating Team (SIT) report probing the role of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and other politicians in the Godhra riots case today.
The complainant alleged that bureaucrats did not discharge their constitutional duty to control the riots.
In April 2009, the Supreme Court had directed the SIT, headed by former CBI director RK Raghavan, to look into the complaint of the widow of ex-Congress MP Ahesan Jafri who was killed by a mob during the riots at Gulbarg Society.
The SIT questioned Modi, VHP leader Praveen Togadia and various police officers and examined records of bureaucrats and top cops in the list of 63 accused in Jafri's complaint.
