Gold Worth Rs 1.99 Crore Seized at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: Gold worth Rs 1.99 crore being smuggled in a Jet Airways flight from Muscat was seized at Mumbai airport today.

The officers of the Air Intelligence Unit intercepted Segu Naina Mohamed, a passenger onboard Flight 9W-539, who admitted to the gold concealment in the flight. He said the gold was to be retrieved during the plane's domestic leg to Kolkata.

The gold was recovered from the waste basin flapper assembly of two rear toilets in the plane.

The passenger has been arrested and will be produced in court for seeking judicial custody.
