On India's 70th Independence Day, Google reminds the nation of it's a historic speech by its first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru who famously spoke of the country's "Tryst with Destiny".
Today's Doodle depicts the speech's historic delivery in the Parliament House before the Indian Constituent Assembly.
Mr Nehru's address to independent India's first constituent assembly at the stroke of midnight is a milestone in Indian history.
The speech "Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now that time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of today's midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom," woke India up to a new era after almost a century of the Indian independence movement. The speech was a culmination of many hopes, dreams and lost lives.
The doodle has 1947 written at the bottom of the parliament house which marks the year of Independence and the beginning of its journey to build a strong nation.
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his Independence day speech, thousands will gather at Red Fort early in the morning to celebrate the union of India's 29 states, a 1,000+ languages, and multiple religions and ethnicities, knitted together to form one proud democratic nation.
