New Delhi: Scoring less than expected marks in CBSE Class XII examination made a student run away from his house in Delhi but a scrap he sent to his friend on 'Orkut' helped police trace him.
Delhi Police last week tracked Siddhant Singh -- an 18-year-old son of a Special Cell Sub-Inspector -- who went missing on May 22, the day result for class XII was announced.
The teenager, who had run away from his house in Geeta Colony in Delhi, was traced in Ambala with the help of a friend on a social networking site.
A senior police officer said they initiated a search after one of Siddhant's friends informed his parents that he had visited his 'Orkut page' and sent a 'scrap'.
Siddhant worked at a tea stall in Faridabad and logged into 'Orkut' from various cyber cafes.
Delhi Police contacted Google to get the Internet protocol address to ascertain from where did Siddhant visit the networking site.
Police first went to a cafe in Faridabad but could not find him there, the officer said, adding the teenager also gave a wrong address in the register maintained in cafes.
