Google Honours RD Burman's Lifelong Commitment To Music On His 77th Birthday

Today's Google doodle is a very colourful one, which pays tribute to the legendary RD Burman.

New Delhi: An ocean of talent, RD Burman, popularly known as Pancham Da, was born on June 27, 1939, in Kolkata. He was the son of famous composer SD Burman.

Composing music for over 300 movies, he was considered one of the influential music directors of Bollywood. At the age of nine, he was already composing music for movies. His father included his son's Sar jo tera chakraaye in the film Pyaasa.

Mr Burman was widely known for creating music out of anything from laughter to blowing lowing over the tops of glass bottles. One of his famous songs Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil ko begins with the sound of two clinking glasses.

He died at a very young age of 54.

During his musical lifetime, Mr Burman had worked with eminent and renowned singers like Asha Bhosle (his wife), Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. He often collaborated with the same people.

He won three Filmfare Awards for Best Music Director.

On his 77th birthday, Google pays tribute to him and to his melodious tunes with a doodle. It is a very vibrant and colourful doodle. It has Mr Burman right in the centre, with a scarf wrapped around his neck. In the background is a piano's grand staff. The grand staff has multiple scenes from his hits.
