New Delhi: Google is celebrating 124th birth Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar by posting his animated picture on its homepage.
Popularly known as Babasaheb, Dr Ambedkar was an economist, jurist and a social activist. He was Independent India's first law minister and was the architect of the Constitution of India. He led many campaigns and fought for the political rights and social freedom for 'untouchables'.
Dr Ambedkar was a genius student and earned a law degree and many other doctorates from Columbia University, US and London School of Economics, UK.
Interestingly, he embraced Buddhism in 1956.
In 1990, he was awarded with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award.
