New Delhi: Today google paid tribute to greatest writer in Hindi literature Premchand, better known as Munshi Premchand.
His last and most famous novel, Godaan (1936), inspired today's doodle, which shows Premchand (sometimes referred to as "Upanyas Samrat," or, "emperor among novelists") bringing his signature working-class characters to life. On what would have been his 136th birthday, the illustration pays tribute to the multitude of important stories he told.
Premchand in his writings narrated stories of India, mostly before independence. The stories draw pictures of communal and class divide during those times, however his stories are very much relevant in present times as well.
Premchand's last published story was Cricket Match, which appeared in Zamana in 1938 , after his death.
