The government has defended the decision to award counter insurgent Ghulam Mohammad Mir a Padma Shri. While speaking to Barkha Dutt on 'The buck stops here', Union Home Secretary GK Pillai said that from the records available, Ghulam Mir had done great service for the national cause.
Their were recommendations from eminent personalities like Chief Information Commissioner, Government of India Wajahat Habibullah and National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah.
However, the state Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is completely clueless about Forest Department dailywager-turned-counter insurgent, Ghulam Mohammad Mir's recommendation.
