New Delhi:
The Narendra Modi government has extended the tenure of cabinet secretary Ajit Kumar Seth by six months. He was scheduled to retire on June 13.
The decision, government sources said, has been taken keeping in mind continuity at the topmost bureaucratic post.
This is the second extension which has been granted to Mr Seth, a 1974-batch IAS officer belonging to the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He would have retired from the post on June 13 last year, but his term was extended by a year by the then UPA government. The tenure of the cabinet secretary is of two years.
Mr Seth will now retire on December 13.
