Lucknow:
The widow and brother of a slain Uttar Pradesh Police officer were Friday appointed to government jobs, a state government spokesman said.
While Parveen Azad, widow of Zia-ul-Haq killed during violence in the state's Pratapgarh district last Saturday, was appointed as officer on special duty (OSD), welfare, Haq's younger brother Sohrab Ali was appointed as constable, welfare, a government spokesman told IANS.
Both these posts will be ex-cadre posts, the spokesman said.
Azad had demanded jobs for eight members of the family. Officials said the government had explored possibilities of accommodating as many members it could but finally decided to appoint Parveen, a medical student, and Ali as government employees.
