This high growth may be attributed to introduction of e-tourist visa for 113 countries as against the earlier Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA) scheme for citizens of 12 nations.
New Delhi:
The government is on track to extend e-tourist visa facility, which allows foreigners to get the travel document online, to 37 more countries by the end of current fiscal.
The service, which is currently available to citizens of 113 countries arriving at 16 Indian airports, has seen "great success" after its launch on November 27, 2014, a Tourism Ministry source said.
"The government is on track to extend the e-visa facility to 150 countries by March this year," the official said.
During January-November, 2015 a total of 3,41,683 foreign travellers arrived on e-tourist visa as compared to 24,963 during January-November, 2014, registering a growth of 1268.8 percent.
This high growth may be attributed to introduction of e-tourist visa for 113 countries as against the earlier Tourist Visa on Arrival (TVoA) scheme for citizens of 12 nations.
