One more person was arrested in the corporate espionage case today.
In the wake of the corporate espionage case, the government has issued a set of guidelines to all its departments to prevent leakage of top secret papers. Action will be taken against those violating these guidelines, said the order.
A strict vigil is to be kept on all visitors and they are not to be left alone, the guidelines said. Besides, all office documents should be kept in safe custody. Anything suspicious must be reported immediately to senior officers.
As a follow-up measure, the cabinet secretary is to hold a meeting with senior officers and decide on the other steps to be taken, sources told NDTV.
Over the last week, the Delhi Police has arrested 13 people after it came to light that top secret documents have been leaked from three ministries - coal, power and defence. The stolen documents included information that was to be included by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley in his budget speech.
While two of the arrested persons were government officials, the rest were outsiders - among them were employees of energy companies.
The arrested government officers allegedly used duplicate keys and forged identity cards to gain access at night to the offices of senior bureaucrats. They ensured that security cameras were disabled. The documents were either stolen or photocopied.
While the news of the leak came days before the beginning of Parliament's budget session, oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the leaks have been taking place for years.
