New Delhi:
The Union government has called a meeting of all airlines to discuss the issue of air fares. The meeting comes in the wake of a government order to maintain last week's air fare levels.
The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had to step in and order airlines not to hike fares and stick to last week's fares after the Jet Airways' pilots went on strike.
Fares had gone up not just on budget airlines but also on full-service airlines.
Earlier, there was a meeting between the Labour Commissioner, the pilots and the management on Friday. Sources told NDTV that during the meeting, pilots were very keen to pursue the issue of union so the commissioner was holding a separate meeting with pilots to find a way out.
The pilots decided to attend the meeting after their talks with Jet Airways chief Naresh Goyal on Thursday evening.
