Amid repeated adjournments in Parliament over Robert Vadra's land deals and Kishtwar violence, an all-party meeting was called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath today to discuss important legislations proposed to be tabled in the ongoing monsoon session.
With most political parties agitated over the recent Supreme Court judgement on disqualification of lawmakers, the first thing on the agenda was fairly cut out.
While the ruling Congress and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party seem keen on amending the Representation of People Act to bypass the Supreme Court order, sources said some parties like the Left Front and the Biju Janata Dal have reservations on the issue and don't want the Centre to rush through the amendment.
The meeting was also convened by the government to facilitate early passage of Congress's flagship Food Security Bill, currently under consideration in the Lok Sabha.
