New Delhi:
In a bid to utilise social media for propagating government's policies and programmes, the Information and Broadcasting ministry has actively turned to YouTube.
Official sources said several important videos of important conferences, speeches and other content related to government initiatives were being uploaded on YouTube for the people to access them.
"This is an initiative to bring the government's plans to the homes of the people and a detailed planning was done to launch this content. For around three months, top officials held meetings to discuss how this medium can be used to spread awareness about government initiatives," a well-placed source said.
Sources said videos had been uploaded around four days ago and even in this short time there had been close to 1,700 hits. While the people can view government videos on YouTube, a formal launch of this initiative may happen in the coming days.
