BJP ridiculed Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for his attacks on Centre and Rajasthan government
New Delhi, Jaipur:
BJP today ridiculed Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, saying he has to "grow out of diapers", as the war of words between the two parties escalates in the run up to the monsoon session of Parliament starting July 21.
BJP secretary, Siddharth Nath Singh said, "He has to grow out of diapers he is wearing. His remarks and behaviour remind us that he remains a baby in diapers."
Mr Singh was reacting to Mr Gandhi's criticism of the Centre and Rajasthan government over the Lalit Modi scandal and the land bill during his tour of Rajasthan.
Earlier in the day, Mr Gandhi said, "This 56-inch chest (of Narendra Modi) will turn into 5.6 inches in six months. And who will turn this into 5.6 inches? It is the Congress party, people of the country, the farmers and the labourers."
Lalit Modi is wanted in corruption cases linked to the Indian Premier League. The Congress has demanded that Ms Raje and Ms Swaraj be sacked for their proximity to the former Cricket mogul, saying that they will allow no legislative business in the session till the Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks in Parliament on the issue.
The Centre has also been under fire from the opposition and activists over the changes to the land acquisition bill, terming them as "anti-farmer". They are demanding the reintroduction of the consent clause in acquisition of land, claiming that its absence will expose farmers to immense risk.
