Jamui: A daring dacoity took place in Bihar on Sunday. The passengers were attacked by over two dozen dacoits with knives and rods.
The dacoits entered the Howrah-Delhi Janata Express in the dead of night. Over 30 passengers were battered and bruised, and lost valuables worth Rs 5 lakh.
"They came at about 3.30 am. They were 25 of them and they attacked passengers with knives," said Railway Guard P K Srivastava.
Train robberies like this have become frequent in Bihar. In the last two months, as many as five trains have been looted in different parts of Bihar. Every incident is followed by the usual assurances by the police, but nothing more concrete.
"Where will I go now? I have no money, should I beg for money. What kind of responsibility does the railways take for our safety," said Farida Khatun, a passenger.
The police are on the lookout for the robbers. But there are no leads so far.
