Gujjars to hold mahapanchayat today, threaten protests in Delhi
New Delhi: As the stand-off between Gujjars and the Rajasthan government enters the tenth day today, Gujjar leaders have threatened to bring their protests to Delhi.

Gujjar, demanding among other things five per cent quota in government jobs and educational institutions, have planned a 'mahapanchayat' in Delhi today where further course of action will be decided. Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla has announced a deadline of seven days for the administration to come up with a "permanent solution."

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has hinted at BJP instigating the protests. He said he will investigate the involvement of BJP leaders.

The ongoing Gujjar agitation has badly affected rail traffic and caused a huge loss to tourism and other sectors. The stir has also badly hit transport industry and supply of goods in the state with several thousand trucks stranded at various places. The Railways have so far refunded over Rs 1.5 crore following cancellation of 45,000 tickets in the wake of the agitation. (With PTI Inputs)
