Gun Wielding UP Woman in Jail on Charges of Attempt to Murder
Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: On Wednesday afternoon, a woman with a gun tucked in her sari tore through a field on a tractor in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor.

Video footage shows her driving almost in circles, chasing after a group of women who in turn try to hit her with sticks. She even drives over one of them, but the woman escapes with minor injuries. The tractor driver, identified as Mamata Agarwal, was soon arrested and sent to jail today.

The dispute relates to a 17-acre property in prime location near the District Magistrate's residence, also known for a 100-year old church. With market rates touching Rs 4,000 per square feet, the cost of this property is pegged at almost Rs 300 crore.

The Agarwal family is well known in the district, as they own an iron rod factory, a flour mill and run a school as well. Ms Agarwal claims that she had bought the property eight years ago, but some 50 families who have stayed on the land for nearly 40 years say she is falsely claiming the land.

A local police officer, Dharmveer Singh, said, "A case has been registered against Mamata under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 and 34 of IPC. We are investigating four more people including her husband, Mr Rajkamal Agarwal."

According to sources, Ms Agarwal's family had no inkling of her intentions, and she had hired a tractor on her own.

A resident, Kamala, said: "She (Mamata) says that she has got the property transferred to her name. That document has been found fake. Senior officials had come here and the case has been going on since 2007."
