AAP candidate Major General Suresh Kumar Khajuria will contest Gurdaspur Lok Sabha by-election

While filing his nomination papers for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha by-election, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Major General (retd) Suresh Kumar Khajuria declared assets worth Rs 4 crore and 11 lakhs.
In his declaration, 64-year-old Suresh Khajuria, a retired army officer, also listed the assets which are in his wife Tripta Khajuria's name.
Part of his declaration included two cars worth Rs 7.75 lakh and immovable assets - including a farm land and residential properties - in Pathankot, Bengaluru and Rajasthan.
The declaration stated that the value of movable assets belonging to both Major General Khajuria and his wife Tripta was Rs 79 lakh and Rs 36.61 lakh respectively at the time of filing the nomination. He also declared that he has Rs 1.50 lakh cash in-hand, while his wife has Rs 60,000 cash and Rs 4.50 lakh worth of gold jewellery.
Disclosing his annual income for the year 2017-18, Major General Khajuria said he earns Rs 15.67 lakh, while his wife got Rs 3.78 lakh.
According to his nomination paper, the retired army officer has an M Phil in defence and strategic studies from the University of Madras.
So far, five candidates have filed their nominations for the by-election which is being held due to the death of BJP lawmaker Vinod Khanna in April. The election is scheduled for October 11.
