New Delhi/ Mumbai:
President Pratibha Patil today celebrated her 77th birthday with a chocolate cake at Rashtrapati Bhavan and a Navy band playing "Happy Birthday" for her in Mumbai where she arrived for a fleet review.
Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Railway Minister Dinesh Triwedi called on her at Rashtrapati Bhavan to greet her on the occasion.
The President along with husband Devisingh Patil cut the cake in the presence of the Rashtrapati Bhavan staff.
In her brief speech, Mrs Patil, whose tenure ends in July next year, said she has cherished her time at Rashtrapati Bhavan and derives her strength from the hardworking staff of the President House.
Later in the day, Mrs Patil was welcomed by children upon her arrival in Mumbai.
During the Presidential Banquet where Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma and other the senior officers were present, Naval Orchestra played "Happy birthday" song for her. The orchestra also played "vaishnav jan".
