On Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birth anniversary today, the whole country is celebrating Teachers' Day. On Teachers' Day, tributes poured in for the great leader on micro-blogging site Twitter. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, political leaders, celebrities, sports personalities and Twitter users wrote heartfelt tributes for Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was an exemplary teacher,  philosopher, scholar and a politician who dedicated his life towards education and shaped up the youth of the country. He was also the first Vice-President of India and the second President of India. Here we encapsulate some of the tweets dedicated to the distinguished leader.

Admiring Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, PM Modi tweeted, "Greetings to the teaching community on the special occasion of Teachers Day. Teachers play a vital role in the shaping of young minds and building our nation. We bow to our former President and a distinguished teacher himself, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his Jayanti."
 

Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted that Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan showed how critical a teacher is to nation-building.

"An Academic, a Teacher & a Statesman, Shri Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan showed us how critical a teacher is to nation-building. On his birth anniversary, I salute all the teachers, who are continually empowering the nation. Happy #TeachersDay," Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted.

TDP leader and former Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju tweeted a rare picture of Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan with his family.

"We honour Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and the profession on #TeachersDay. Our family was fortunate to know this multi faceted personality. I thought I should share this picture of him with my great grandmother and grand uncle when he visited them in Vizianagaram Bhawan, Benaras," he tweeted.


International sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik dedicated his sand art to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on Teachers' Day.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will confer National Teachers' Awards for 2017 today in New Delhi.

He tweeted, "I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all Teachers on the occasion of National Teachers' Day today. Teachers are nation-builders, who shape the caliber and character of our children. Teacher or a Guru is a source of enlightenment & empowerment. #TeachersDay #Education"
