Dehradun:
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today took a dig at BJP chief Amit Shah saying he is suffering from a "phobia of elections" and that his recent public meetings failed to reflect a concern for the state.
"Amit Shah seems to be suffering from a phobia of elections. That is why he spoke about the sting operation (against Rawat) and did not say anything of public interest," he told reporters in Dehradun.
"The real problems facing the state were conspicuously absent from his speeches which remained confined to hurling abuses and charges at the party in power (in Uttarakhand). This is unfortunate," he added.
Mr Rawat said Mr Shah could have spoken of steps which could be taken to overcome the effects of a change in the funding pattern for Uttarakhand -- an issue which has been repeatedly raised by the state before the Centre.
Mr Shah remained "silent" on issues facing the state including non-release of funds and non-issuance of a roadmap on the recommendations of the Cabinet Committee on Uttarakhand which was constituted soon after the 2013 natural disaster, he added.
Mr Shah sounded the poll bugle from BJP's 'Shankhnad' rally in Haridwar on Saturday describing the Rawat government as "the most corrupt" and asking people to dislodge it in the 2017 Assembly elections and give the mandate to BJP.
Addressing the BJP state council in Haldwani yesterday, Mr Shah asked the party cadre to gear up for the elections slated to be held early next year.
"President of a national party confined himself to talking about just a sting operation. Even today, I say CBI should investigate everyone whose name pops up in the sting video. That alone will prove the neutrality of the investigating agency," he said, adding that a campaign would be launched in the state from July 2 to find out what people of the state felt about the sting operation.
