A draft of ordinance to provide 75 per cent reservation in jobs in private sector for the residents of Haryana was on Monday passed by the state Cabinet. The ordinance will be approved in the next meeting, a state government statement said.
The quota was promised by Jannayak Janata Party chief Dushyant Chautala before the 2019 state assembly election. His newly formed party went on to win 10 seats and later formed an alliance with the BJP to form the government in the state. Mr Chautala was appointed the deputy Chief Minister.
Mr Chautala, who moved the proposal in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, said when enacted, the law will have stringent rules for industries and firms that will try to hide information regarding employees. He said companies will have to register those employees that have salary below Rs 50,000.
He said the companies not registering to the portal will face a monetary punishment under section 3 of what he called Haryana State Employment to Local Candidates bill.
He said under the upcoming law, employment providers with more than 10 employees in its premises would be covered. These rules would apply to recruitment after the date of notification of this ordinance.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that domicile certificate would be mandatory for a candidate to get the benefits under this scheme. He said if private companies inform the state government that they are not being able to find suitable candidates, they will be issued permits to hire from other states.
