The GST Bill is likely to be passed in the Assembly.
Chandigarh:
The monsoon session of the Haryana Assembly will begin in Chandigarh tomorrow as the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP Government would try to get the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill passed in the session which is likely to be brief.
Apart from the GST Bill, Haryana Legislative Assembly Facilities to members Amendment Bill, Salaray Allowance and Pension of members amendment Bill, Court Fees amendment bill, Haryana Private University Amendment Bill, Haryana Sports Council Bill, 2016 and Vishwa Karma Skill University Bill are likely to be introduced in the Assembly, official sources said.
The Assembly session will begin on Friday afternoon. However, the official schedule of business is yet to be announced.
The Assembly session which was to begin on August 19 had been deferred by a week after Mr Khattar announced that many legislators had requested that they wanted to see the state's athletes take part in the Rio Olympics.
Among others, Haryana Sports Minister Anil Vij and senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala, who is Leader of Opposition, had travelled to Rio.
Ruling BJP is expected to bring in a resolution praising the feat of Sakshi Malik, who belongs to Haryana and won an Olympic bronze in a wrestling event at Rio.
Opposition Congress and INLD are gearing up to target the Khattar government on a host of issues including crop insurance, law and order situation, employees and power issues.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the party legislators in Chandigarh, Congress Legislature Party leader Kiran Choudhary and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda hit out at the Khattar government over its alleged failure on various fronts.
Mr Choudhary alleged that Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was being thrust on farmers and money was being deducted from their Kisan credit cards even when they were unwilling to take up the scheme.
"We will bring an adjournment motion on this," she said.
Mr Hooda claimed that the crop insurance scheme was "Kisan Loot Yojna".
