Haryana Police Addresses Media On Jat Quota Stir: Highlights

New Delhi: Haryana DGP YP Singhal addressed a press conference over protests by Jat community in Rohtak district. Below are the highlights:

• The protesters are not blocking roads everywhere, at some place people are responding in a peaceful way after talking to police and authority
• Want to appeal that the elderly advise the younger people to not take part in such protests
• Our first priority is to restore law and order
• 78 people have been injured during these protests
• Flag match is underway in affected areas. I am sure the situation will normalise soon
• 10 companies of paramilitary forces have reached, another 23 are on their way
• We have to change our strategy because the protest is widespread
• We are trying to end the protest through talks
• I admit that we did not use the available police forces properly, but we are taking all measures to ensure the security of public.
