The salary bill which was passed on the final day of monsoon session.
The Haryana Assembly on Wednesday passed a Bill effecting a substantial hike in salaries and other emoluments of all legislators.
The Haryana Legislative Assembly (members salary, allowances and pension) Amendment Bill 2016, which was passed on the final day of monsoon session today, will double up the salaries of the lawmakers and impose an additional burden of Rs 4 crore per year on the state exchequer.
The basic salary of lawmakers, without allowances, will go up from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per month. Similarly, the constituency allowance is up from Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000 per month now while office allowance will now be Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 5,000.
Daily allowances of lawmakers have been raised from Rs 1,500 a day to Rs 2,000 for a maximum of 15 days within a month.
The annual free travel facility has also been hiked from Rs 2 Lakh to Rs 3 Lakh. The telephone allowance has also been adjusted from Rs 15,000 per month for landline connection to a mobile phone as well.
Last salary revision was in 2013, when Congress government led by then Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda.
The salary hike has been given in view of the rise in living cost in recent years.
