Haryana recommends dissolution; assembly polls soon

Haryana recommends dissolution; assembly polls soon
Chandigarh:

The Haryana cabinet has recommended the dissolution of state assembly after a meeting on Friday.

The Haryana government is in the favour of early assembly elections, to be held in October along with Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh.

Sources said both All India Congress Committee (AICC) and senior Congress leaders in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government have been of the view that it would be the right time for Haryana to go to polls.

There are all indications that the Hooda government is keen on going to early polls in October in place of February.

The general body meeting of Haryana PCC, convened in Chandigarh on August 18, weighed views of party workers. So what could the congress strategy be behind it?

Most state leaders see this as an opportune moment for several reasons. First of all, it would save them the drought backlash. Harvesting summer crops start only after October. Also there is a perceived pro-Congress wave as the mood in the camp is upbeat after it won nine of the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
