This incentive is being given to ease the pressure on banks.
Chandigarh: The BJP-led Haryana government has announced that it will disburse Rs 10,000 in cash in advance to its Group C and D employees.
The remainder of the salary will be transferred to their bank accounts as usual, state Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu said.
He said that this incentive is being given on the pattern of the central government to ease the pressure on banks. "This facility will be provided to employees of C and D category so that they don't have to face cash crunch due to demonetization," the state finance minister said.
"This amount will be given in advance while the rest of their salaries will be credited to their bank accounts on the last day of the month," he added.
He said that the arrears of the revised pay would also be paid within the current financial year. Haryana is the first state to give the benefit of Seventh Central Pay Commission to its employees like the Centre, he said in an official release.
The Haryana government has also decided to give 2 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees on revised scales of pay with effect from July 1, 2016.
He said that the instalment of DA would be paid in cash to all state government employees on the pattern of central government. With this revision, the state exchequer would bear an additional burden of Rs. 21.92 crore per month.
Captain Abhimanyu said that a proposal to this effect has been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
The salary for the month of November paid in December 2016 would be given as per the revised pay scales, he said, pointing out that the state government has already implemented the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for all its employees.
Haryana has 2.5 lakh employees, of these 1.75 lakh are category C staff and 42 thousand belong to group D.
