New Delhi: Distressed over a case filed against her, a Hariyanvi entertainment artist today attempted suicide in southwest Delhi's Najafgarh area.
Sapna was upset over the case filed against her at Gurgaon Sector 29 police station in July under the SC and ST Act for insulting Dalits in one of her songs, said a senior police officer.
In a seven-page suicide note, she alleged that Satpal Kunwar, who had filed the complaint against her, sent her "humiliating" messages on Facebook and WhatsApp, he said.
She apologised for the song but the harassment continued, the officer said quoting the suicide note.
The woman consumed rat poison today and was rushed to a hospital, where she is undergoing treatment, said the officer. A probe is on in the matter.
