Mercury at Amritsar in Punjab, which witnessed a drizzle, soared to 40.8 degree Celsius, two notches above than normal, the MeT office in Chandigarh said.
Ludhiana and Patiala recorded above normal highs of 42.6 degree Celsius and 42.7 degree Celsius, respectively.
In Haryana, Hisar experienced a hot day at 43 degree Celsius, two notches above normal while Karnal braved sweltering conditions at 42.6 degree Celsius. Ambala, too, experienced a hot day at 41.4 degree

Sultry weather prevailed in Chandigarh, where maximum temperature settled at 41.6 degree Celsius, three notches above normal.
