Helicopters to watch over Commonwealth Games

New Delhi: There will be three rings of search before one can reach any of the Games venues and helicopters will keep aerial surveillance at all times. There will be dedicated road corridors for moving athletes around and a fleet of secured vehicles in which they will travel. This was revealed by the Delhi government on Wednesday outlining its elaborate security arrangement for Commonwealth Games.

The government also made it clear that there was no specific threat to Games as of now.  Home Secretary G K Pillai met officials from sports ministry and Delhi police. Detailed plans were presented by the Delhi Police.

Anti-sabotage units will be posted all along the routes to the Games' venues. There will be three rings of search before one reach the venue.

Buses used for transporting athletes and delegates will be sealed every night. More than 2000 CCTV will be linked directly to police control room. This is besides CCTVs at venues. There will also be holding areas for viewers and athletes in case of evacuation. The Air Force will do aerial checks and surveillance all times at the 12 venues of the Games.

There will be dedicated road corridor for movement of players and special fleet of security for 524 vehicles which will carry participants. However, only parts of the city will be closed for some time.

Representatives of Mauritius said they're worried about the terrible driving they've seen, especially at roundabouts. The Home Secretary responded by admitting "Point noted and taken, we'll try and see if driving habits can be improved".

Around 100,000 visitors are expected to witness the grand event.
