High Court Rejects Plea Seeking Blue Beacon Lights For Health Officials
Madras High Court has dismissed a PIL seeking blue beacon lights for Health department officials
Chennai: The Madras High Court has dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to include Health department officials in the list of dignitaries who can use blue beacon lights on their vehicles.

The Court had yesterday dismissed the PIL filed by the General Secretary of Doctors' Association for Social Equality, Chennai, G Ravindranath.

Passing the order it said, "We are not inclined to entertain the PIL for inclusion of further categories in Government Order dated November 15, 2014 of the Home(Transport-V) department though we make it clear that this order will not preclude the representation of the petitioner already made being examined by the said Authorities."

The petitioner had submitted that the officials of Public Health Department are engaged in emergency duties throughout the year.

Noting that these officials have to reach the affected area to prevent outbreak of any disease, or deaths, on time, the petitioner said, the vehicles carrying the officials require unhindered access to roads inorder to perform life-saving duties.

Hence, he had sought a Court direction to include health department officials in the G.O issued by the Home (Transport-V) department, on the use of blue beacon lights.
