Himachal High Court seeks report on paucity of teaching faculty in Himachal Pradesh University.

The Himachal High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Secretary (Education) regarding the paucity of teaching faculty in Himachal Pradesh University and directed them to file status report within two weeks.
The High Court fixed the next hearing on August 22.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed these orders on a petition taken up suo motu based on a news report that almost every department of the university has large number of vacant posts.
It was reported that there are only five teachers in the Law Department, whereas the total strength of the students is 500.
At present, 11 posts are lying in vacant in the Law Department and no appointment has been made since 2000.
In department of Education, which is the second biggest department, 15 posts of teachers are lying vacant and even after directions from the High Court to fill up the vacant posts, no action has been taken by the university.
