Guwahati:
Chief Secretaries of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh along with other senior officials from
police and Army today participated in a high-level security meeting of the Unified Command in Tezpur to curb militant activities in the region.
"With a renewed resolve to curb the militant activities of various insurgent groups, the Unified HQ met at Tezpur, in a shift from the regular venue of Guwahati," the Army said in a statement in Guwahati.
Discussions were held over law and order scenario of the state, particularly in Sonitpur district as it has become a hot bed of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland
and some other insurgent groups, it said.
The strategic group meeting was chaired by Assam Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla, while the operational group meeting was chaired by Lt Gen AK Ahuja.
Assam DGP Khagen Sarma and other senior officials from the state government, Army and Para-military Forces also participated in the discussion.
Later, a similar meeting was held at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district in which the state Chief Secretary, the DGP, Home Secretary and senior Army officials participated, the statement said.
