Highlights: Congress ministers list UPA-II's achievments

Bhopal: Home Minister P Chidambaram, Law Minister Salman Khurshid along with Congress leader V Narayanasamy listed the UPA-II government's achievements in a press conference in Bhopal. Here are the highlights of Mr Chidambaram's media address:

• 5 crore post office accounts have been opened for MNREGA workers
• Unprecedented record of foodgrain stock
• Remarkable change in J&K and Northeast.
• Lowest no. of causalities in the last 20 years and NE virtually every militant group is in talks
• Lowest number of casualties in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 20 years.
• Achievement of govt in social sector noteworthy.
• We face challenges but have the resilience and the confidence to overcome the challenges.
• We overcame challenges and took India to 9 per cent growth rate. We overcame serious challenges in 1991, the Asian finance crisis in 1996, in 2004 we had declining investments and declining capital markets and growth rate.
