Highlights: If Arvind Kejriwal runs for office, I will definitely support him, says Anna Hazare

New Delhi: Anna Hazare met activist Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi today for the first time since his Team Anna split.

Anna, in his address to the media, outlined his action plan. Here are the highlights:

  • We met retired army, IAS officers today
  • We have to meet two more groups
  • We have to meet volunteers, selection them and train them
  • They have to know what is the purpose behind the movement
  • After they are trained, then we will think how we can takethe movement forward at a national level
  • There will be one committee at the national level, similarto what we have at the state level
  • We are not in a hurry; we are in a position today that we don't have space in Delhi
  • If you want to meet us, you do not know where to go
  • Once we find space in 4-5 days, coordination will become easier, like the system we have in Ralegan Siddhi
  • We will begin our training at Ralegan Siddhi in October
  • In November our country-wide tour will start, where we will go across India to all states to spread our message
  • You want to know what I think about Arvind I know. We have no difference with him that is also the correct path; this is also the correct path.
  • In my life I decided not to be in politics, but since we have accepted democracy why should I shun anyone who fights elections?
  • When he will choose candidates, if I like them, I will support them. It is good for the country, society
  • Why should we fight between ourselves?
  • Arvind and Manish came to meet me. They also said they have no difference with us
I have never said Arvind is wrong
  • If Arvind stands for elections himself, I will definitely support him
  • He has sacrificed a lot
  • If he contests against Kapil Sibal, I will definitely come and campaign in Chandni Chowk
  • We have different paths but the same destination - a corruption free India.
  • I asked where will we get the money from, how will be choose candidates, who will monitor the people across India, do we have the system?
  • We see that people do not live up to their promises when they come to power, so what is our method of ensuring they keep their promises?
  • I also wanted them to take suggestions from at least 300 Gram Sabhas, but none of these questions were answered.
  • Told Baba Ramdev that if he has no political affiliation, if his move isn't linked to any political party, I will definitely go around the country with him. That is not clear to me yet.
  • Arvind is not selfish. I have never seen him think of his material well-being. He is not working for himself or his family but the society
  • We will decide who will head IAC. I have asked Kiran Bedi to sit with Arvind, decide what to do. We should not fight.
