Ahmedabad/New Delhi:
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi I interacted with people and answered questions on Google+ Hangout. The event was anchored by actor Ajay Devgn.
Here are the highlights of the interaction:
Narendra Modi:
- It is my good fortune that I have been able to get in touch with so many people across India and the world.
- I apologise that this hangout started late.
- I am thankful to my friends at Google+; Google+ is the new pulse of the globe.
- 30-40 people were working hard at clearing the traffic at google +.
- It is the 150tth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda - I believe that we can make his dreams about India come true.
- The pain in your heart that our country is not progressing; I believe this is a great force.
- If 21st century is Asia's century, the big debate is whether it will be India's or China's? I believe if we channelise the youth of this country, we can achieve greatness.
- Skill development is very important. In Gujarat we are taking rapid strides in skill development and making our youth globally competitive. Before IT India wasn't recognised, but our 18-20 year olds put India on the global IT map.
- I have taken a Chief Minister Fellowship initiative - people from across the world leave jobs which pay them lakhs and crores and come work for 15-20,000. I get fresh ideas from them.
- Educational infrastructure should be improved and we should stress on providing good teachers. Each person is worried about the education of his children - and that doesn't mean AC schools. We need to make good teachers - Like we have IIM which produces some of the best CEOs in the world. In Gujarat, we have taken a new initiative IITE to train teachers. We can export teachers - and they can be ambassadors of Indian culture. I am waiting for the day when like IIM, there will be campus interviews for teachers.
