Highlights of President Pranab Mukherjee's speech

New Delhi: At 11:38 am today, India got its 13 President in Pranab Mukherjee. The former Finance Minister was sworn-in at the central hall of Parliament. Here are the highlights of what Mr Mukherjee's oath as President:

• Hunger is the biggest humiliation
• Peace is the first ingredient of prosperity
• For our development to be real, the poorest of our land must feel they are part of the narrative of rising India.
• I will strive to preserve, protect and defend our constitution not just in words but also in spirit
• War against terrorism is the foe...and it s a world war because it can raise its head anywhere in the world
• India has been at frontline of this war long before others recognized its consequences
