Highlights: Trial court verdict on Chidambaram in 2G case today
New Delhi: Home Minister P Chidambaram will not be a  co-accused in telecom scam. When the scam played out, Mr Chidambaram was Finance Minister. 

One-line verdict delivered by Judge OP Saini, who is handling the telecom trial. He dismissed the petition filed by Subramanian Swamy, who is Janata Party president. Judge said "Prayer of Swamy to make Chidambaram an accused is dismissed."

Mr Chidambaram was at home when the judgement was delivered.

Government can exhale, allows it to reclaim a portion of credibility erased by recent scams and by Supreme Court verdict on Thursday that cancelled 122 telecom licenses allotted in 2008. 

Judgement comes as elections are being held in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, whose strategic importance to Congress is doubled by Rahul Gandhi's leadership of the party's campaign.

Supreme Court verdict on Thursday cancelled 122 licenses issued by Mr Raja in 2008.  Court described their allocation as arbitrary and unconstitutional.
