Highlights: What is UPA celebrating? It has failed on all fronts, says BJP president Rajnath Singh

BJP president Rajnath Singh today lashed out at the Congress-lead UPA government at the Centre saying there's little to celebrate in the nine-year rule of the government.

Here are the highlights of his press conference in Hyderabad:

  • I wonder for what reasons is Congress celebrating its nine-year term
  • They have promised that they will make Telangana a separate state
  • Are they celebrating for the increase in price rises? Or is it celebrating for its involvement in corruption?
  • They should celebrate after completing its 9-year full term
  • After this government has come in, fiscal and current account deficit has gone up
  • The value of rupee compared to the US dollar has gone down
  • On every front, economic, diplomatic, this government is a failure
  • China has encircled India... Pakistan, a small country, comes in, decapitates the body of our soldier and returns a body mutilated
  • Whether its Burma or Bangladesh, we don't have cordial relations with anyone
  • The Naxal problem is on the rise. What happened in Chhattisgarh was unfortunate, but even that is being politicised
  • This government was trying to politicise the issue in Chhattisgarh and was making BJP accountable for the issue
  • The state government is responsible for law and order, but this is a national problem
  • To control Naxal attack they do not have any action plan
  • They are still not taking this issue with seriousness
  • They say that we do not let the government or Parliament function
  • Our role is that of a watchdog - whatever allegations we have raised all the corruption charges were true
  • We have asked for resignations of Law minister and Rail minister, has they considered it during the session all these important bills (food, land acquisition) all would have been passed
