Mumbai:

As Hillary Clinton lands in Mumbai, the security across the city is unprecedented. The US Secretary of State will spend a day in Mumbai.

She will stay at 26/11 icon Taj Hotel and meet with leaders of India Inc. The Mumbai Police is pulling out all stops to ensure the visit goes without incident.

Manjeet Lala, a resident south Mumbai, says: "It's a big statement. One of the biggest US leaders telling India we stand by you."

But, on the other hand is Mihir Sharma, another south Mumbai resident. "We are interested in her actions not in her cavalcade. If there's no action her coming does not matter," he says.

Meanwhile, citing security and privacy issues, the Taj has refused to share preparations ahead of Clinton's visit. She and her entourage will stay on the 11th and 12th floors of this hotel.

NDTV has learnt that Clinton will be taken and shown portions of the old Taj that was damaged on 26/11. Also as part of security measures, even guests who have checked into the Taj, or are planning to check into the Taj will be scrutinised.

  • Around 200 policemen have been deployed at various parts of the city.
  •  The Quick Response Team and the bomb detection squad are standing guard not just around the Taj, but every venue that she will visit.
  •  The management of Taj has been asked to increase its internal security.
  •  A coast guard ship and a coast guard aircraft will be on stand-by off the Mumbai coast.
  • Her aircraft will be on round the clock protection by the CISF.

From her landing to her take off Hillary Clinton's every move will be guarded to ensure that her trip passes off peacefully.
