Surat: Narayan Sai, the 41-year-old son of spiritual leader Asaram Bapu, has been officially declared an absconder by a court in Gujarat, where he is accused of raping a woman. 72-year-old Asaram Bapu has been accused of raping her sister; he has been in jail since September in a different case where a school girl has accused him of sexual assault.

Narayan Sai has been missing for 35 days since the case was registered against his father and him.

The court in Surat has ordered him to surrender to the police or in court within 30 days.

Last month, Narayan Sai released newspaper ads to insist that he was not evading arrest, but has ignored summons by the police for interrogation.

Airports were alerted last month to prevent him from flying out of the country.

The sisters say that Asaram Bapu and Narayan Sai raped them between at two different ashrams or retreats in Gujarat. The younger sister says Narayan Sai raped her repeatedly between 2002 and 2005 at Asaram's ashram in Surat. Her older sister says Asaram Bapu raped her between 1997 and 2006 while she was living at his ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.

Asaram Bapu is in jail in Jodhpur in Rajasthan where he allegedly raped a 16-year-old at his ashram.

Before disappearing, Narayan Sai had said the teen is mentally disturbed.
