Hisar, Haryana: A local court today extended the police remand of controversial guru Rampal, who has been slapped with cases of sedition and murder, by seven days.
Rampal was produced before Judicial Magistrate (Hisar) Prateek Jain after the completion of his six-day police remand in connection with sedition and other cases registered against him on November 19 when he was arrested.
Police had sought extension of Rampal's remand which was accepted by the court.
Rampal, 63, was arrested from his Satlok Ashram at Barwala in Hisar on November 19.
He was produced before the Punjab and Haryana High Court a day later and was sent to police custody for five days by a Magistrate.
Rampal has been slapped with cases of sedition, murder, attempt to murder, waging war against the state government, rioting, illegal detention and others.
Violent clashes between followers of Rampal and police led to death of five women and an infant and left over 200 people injured including some policemen.
