Hisar : The Haryana Police has made one more arrest in connection with the gangrape of a teenage Dalit girl of Dabra village in Hisar district. With this, the total number of arrests made in the case has reached 10.
Yesterday, the police had arrested seven people, including accomplices of the main accused.
Haryana Director General of Police R S Dalal told reporters that five people were arrested from Almora, including the three main accused - Vikas, Rajkumar and Pawan, against whom a First Information Report was registered.
Two more persons were arrested for allegedly giving shelter to the culprits, he said.
Hisar Superintendent of Police B Satheesh Balan said the arrested persons had confessed to their involvement in the incident. They will be produced before a court in Hisar today, he added.
Uttrakhand Police helped the Hisar Police in arresting the culprits, he said, adding that police teams had already been sent to other states including Rajasthan, to nab the remaining accused.
A request has been made to constitute a fast track court so that justice can be meted out in the case within three months.
The Haryana police failed to take action for almost a month after the teenage Dalit girl was gangraped by 12 men and a video clip of the rape was being circulated around the village. Not able to cope with the situation, the girl's father killed himself. The victim and her mother refused to take his body from the morgue, saying they will claim it only when they get justice. This finally forced the police to take action.
