Residents in Chakpikarong, Chandel try to carry out temporary repairs on a crucial bridge washed away in floods in the state.
Manipur:
The Chakpikarong bridge, which connects villages located along India-Myanmar border, collapsed on July 31. About 5,000 people from 40 villages have been cut off.
Since yesterday, villagers on either side of the bridge have spent hours placing wooden logs on parts of the bridge to restore connectivity.
Three other suspension bridges in the area have also been washed away. The villages have asked the government to immediately start rebuilding these bridges, which are their lifeline.
