New Delhi: BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addressed the Chartered Accountants' Association in Delhi today.

Here are the highlights of what he said:

  • Everyone should get employment where they stay. Why should they have to leave their homes?
  • Urbanisation should be taken as an opportunity. It should not be viewed as a hurdle
  • Our aim should be - 'soul of a village and amenities of a city'
  • Scope for jobs in agriculture sector is immense.

  • There were a lot of pending cases in Gujarat. We made use of the same infrastructure and set up evening courts.
  • We have given sanctity to Lok adalats. Lakhs of cases are be decided by these court
  • We need to stress on skill development and self -employment
  • If we think of skill development, people would be self-reliant.
  • There should be transparency in operations of state-run units. In these matters, there should be no politics
  • Our states are our strength they are not our weakness. States are important
  • Federal structure is important. It is India's strength
  • As states grow, India grows.
  • Cities should develop in a way that they have a vibrant economy
  • Does Mumbai run from Delhi? Or do I run Surat from Gandhinagar?
  • BJP has never opposed GST. Only that the preparation on the part of the Centre is not done. Concerns of states must also be addressed
  • IT infrastructure needs to be strengthened - before GST is implemented
