A mega-operation spread across twelve states has resulted in the arrest of two of north India's most wanted criminals -- Sandeep, also known as Kala Jathedi and Anuradha "Revolver Rani" Chaudhary.
Kala Jathedi is accused of leading an international syndicate that was involved in contract killings, organized bootlegging, extortion and land-grabbing, a Delhi police statement said on Saturday.
Jathedi, a wanted criminal with a bounty of Rs 6 lakh from Delhi and Haryana, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, police said.
He was on the run since February last year after escaping from Haryana Police's custody -- an incident that saw an audacious attack on a police escort party.
Anuradha Chaudhary or Madam Minz, an infamous 'Lady Don - Revolver Rani' of Rajasthan, with a long criminal record and carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 was also arrested. She is accused of several crimes including kidnapping, extortion, Arms and Excise Act violations and cheating.
She was also a close associate of Rajasthan-based gangster Anand Pal, who died in a police encounter in June 2017, police said. Anuradha got her infamous nickname "Revolver Rani" for apparently using an AK-47 as her weapon of choice for intimidating people.
Kala Jathedi and Anuradha Chaudhary constantly shifted their base across the country using fake identities and pretending to be a couple, police said.
The gangsters also worked with several jailed gangsters including Lawrence Bishnoi, Sube Gujjar and Kala Rana, police said, adding that the criminals were active in four states - Rajasthan, UP, Delhi and Haryana.
